The San Francisco Interfaith Coalition and the Jewish Community Relations Council are holding a Vigil for Human Dignity on the steps of the Northern District Courthouse. The vigil will take place during a hearing on a lawsuit brought against ICE and its blanket policy of shackling detainees during immigration court proceedings.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of San Francisco led a $100,000 campaign to subvert the democratic process by suing the City and County of San Francisco to have the San Francisco Male Genital Mutilation Bill removed from the ballot after it had fully qualified. Their harmful actions seek to ensure that boys in San Francisco will continue to be denied the same civil rights and legal protection to genital integrity that girls already have. Bay Area Intactivists will hold a demonstration at the JCRC main office to condemn their actions.

The Peace and Justice Commission has requested for the city council and mayor of Berkeley to "Adopt a resolution condemning the "Foreskin Man" comic books and urges backers of the San Francisco measure to do likewise and that any proposal that strikes directly at a core religious practice should not be welcomed when it is tainted by overt expressions of bigotry."

California Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, co-sponsor of AB 768, will be present at a Drums, Salsa & Chili Cook-Off community event which is open to the public and will be held at Pine Lake Park in San Francisco. Members of Bay Area Intactivists will demonstrate against the passing of AB 768 and Fiona Ma's endorsement of this law which prohibits cities in California from passing legislation to restrict male circumcision.

San Francisco Medical Society Demonstration

The San Francisco Medical Society will hold its annual Career Fair on Tuesday, September 27 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the California Pacific Medical Center's Pacific Campus. Bay Area Intactivists will demonstrate on the sidewalk outside the medical center on Buchanan Street starting at 4:00pm.

The San Francisco Medical Society opposed the SF MGM Bill ballot measure and filed an amicus curiae brief in the court case that removed the initiative from the November ballot.

AB 768 Senate Judiciary Committee Public Hearing

On Tuesday, August 23, the California Senate Judiciary Committee held a public hearing for AB 768, a bill co-authored by Assemblyman Mike Gatto and Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, that would prohibit local municipalities from creating legislation that places restrictions on male circumcision. The hearing was attended by approximately fifteen people in opposition, including several members of Bay Area Intactivists, some of whom held a public demonstration alongside the Capitol prior to the hearing.
