Protesters Condemn Politicians Who Advocate Circumcision

Senator Mark Leno, Senator Leland Yee, Assemblymember Tom Ammiano, and Supervisor John Avalos all worked to deny equal protection to genital integrity and sexual freedom for men through their opposition of the San Francisco Male Genital Mutilation Bill. Despite no recommendation from any national medical organization to routinely circumcise infants, Leno, Yee, and Ammiano also endorsed AB 768, the California state law which alleges that "male circumcision has a wide array of health and affiliative benefits" and which prohibits cities from restricting male circumcision to consenting adults.

Outraged by such attacks on the human right to bodily integrity and a blatant attempt to legitimize the sexual repression of men, members of Bay Area Intactivists protested in San Francisco on Sunday, January 8, 2012 to condemn the actions of these politicians and to educate the community about the physical and sexual damage caused by forced genital cutting.
