Genital autonomy advocates from across the country will hold a peaceful protest outside the San Diego Convention Center during the 2014 American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference & Exhibition. Some of the doctors attending this conference continue to violate medical ethics and the human right to bodily integrity by forcing genital modifications upon male and intersex children. Protest signs will be available or you may bring your own. There will also be literature available for participants to distribute.

Although female minors in the United States have been protected by Federal law from forced genital cutting since 1997, male and intersex minors continue to be denied equal rights to genital integrity. Each year in the United States, over one million children are subjected to forced genital cutting practices such as non-therapeutic circumcision and sex-normative surgery. Besides violating the victims' human right to bodily integrity, these damaging surgeries also violate medical ethics since they are both unnecessary and performed without the patient's consent.
