American Academy of Pediatrics Protest

Date:
Saturday, December 7, 2013 -
10:00am to 1:00pm
Location:
Hotel Kabuki
Address:
1625 Post Street, San Francisco

Although girls in the United States have been protected by Federal law from forced genital cutting since 1997, boys and intersex children continue to be denied equal rights to genital integrity.

Each year in the United States, approximately one million healthy children are subjected to forced genital cutting such as routine infant circumcision and sex-normative surgery. Besides violating these victims' human right to bodily integrity, these damaging surgeries also violate medical ethics since they are both unnecessary and performed without the patient's consent.

Members of Bay Area Intactivists will hold a peaceful protest outside the Hotel Kabuki during a meeting of the California 1 chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics to condemn this organization for refusing to discourage its members from performing or advocating unnecessary genital surgery on children.

The AAP meeting will take place from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Most intactivists plan to protest from about 10:00 am until 1:00 pm however your participation is welcome earlier or later if it works better for you. You may use one of our signs or bring your own.
