Solano Avenue strollers schooled on circumcision

Several members of the human rights group Bay Area Intactivists staffed a booth yesterday at Solano Avenue Stroll, an annual street fair that takes place in Berkeley and Albany. Music from the festival filled the air as the intactivists distributed literature, stickers, and their signature orange bracelets to visitors of their booth over the course of the eight-hour event. For some Solano Avenue Stroll attendees, their encounter with the intactivists was the first time they had ever thought about the ethical questions surrounding routine infant circumcision and other forms of forced genital cutting. Others who were already well-versed on the topic voiced enthusiastic support for the group's efforts.

The next destination for the Bay Area Intactivists booth will be the Birth & Family Fair in Palo Alto on Saturday, September 15.
