American Academy of Pediatrics presented with SHAME Award as part of protest

On August, 27, 2012, the American Academy of Pediatrics updated its Circumcision Policy Statement to claim that there are health benefits that are sufficient to justify performing male circumcision on healthy infants.

On the same day, members of Bay Area Intactivists visited the AAP California Chapter 1 office in San Rafael, California to hold a protest condemning the organization for its utter disregard for medical ethics and human rights with its promotion of non-therapeutic, non-consensual circumcision. The protest began with Jonathon Conte and Lloyd Schofield presenting the Sexual Harm And Mutilation Enthusiasts (SHAME) Award to Beverly Busher, Executive Director of AAP California Chapter 1. Following the award presentation, about a dozen intactivists assembled outside to hold signs and distribute literature.

The Marin Independent Journal published a news report on the protest.
